Camp stove fun
We have recently been trying to promote controlled risks within Preschool to give children the opportunity to determine whether or not something dangerous. We decided to make crispie cakes outside using portable gas camping stove. We discussed safety with the children and encouraged them to feel the heat of the fire without getting to close. The children then broke up the pieces of chocolate and put them into a bowl on top of the stove. The children then stood around the stove and watched the chocolate melt; changing from solid to liquid. Once the chocolate had melted all children then had a turn at mixing in the rice crispies and putting the mixture in the cases. The children all really enjoyed this activity and I am sure will remember this experience for a long time!
