The College offers two types of Apprenticeship in Children’s Care, Learning and development (CCLD), an Apprenticeship at Level 2 and an apprenticeship at Level 3 also known as an Advanced Apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship in Childcare, Learning and Development
NVQ Level 2
NVQ Level 2
A one year course encompassing all areas of child development and health.
The NVQ is a recognised qualification and is for people who are new to the profession who work or wish to work with children aged 0-16 years in a supervised capacity and as a support to others with a level 3 or above qualification. Most applicants achieve level 2 and then progress onto level 3.
Advanced Apprenticeship in Children's Care, Learning and Development
NVQ Level 3
This is either a one year course after completion of NVQ Level 2 or an 18 - 24 month course if you enter directly at Level 3. We recommend all applicants aim to achieve Level 2 in their first year and Level 3 in the second year so that if you have any unexpected change of circumstance during your course you will still be able to gain a valuable qualification.
The NVQ Level 3 is the equivalent to the DCE (Diploma in Child Care and Education), a qualification highly regarded by employers.
Employment opportunities for college graduates are plentiful as demand for qualified nannies and nursery nurses exceeds supply.
