Technical Certificates
In addition to your NVQ you will also complete what is known as a Technical Certificate. This is a collection of assignments that run alongside your NVQ.
Technical Certificates ensure you have developed the underpinning knowledge and understanding required for your NVQ. Each level has a multiple choice test, which is taken online.
Key Skills**
You are also required to complete Key Skills in Application of Number, (Maths) and Communication, (English). Both levels have a multiple choice test in each subject. You also need to complete a small project. If you have achieved grade D or above in GCSE’s in English and/or Maths, you are exempt from the tests at NVQ Level 2, and in NVQ Level 3.
** From September 2010 Key Skills are due to be replaced by Functional Skills. This is currently under consultation.
